The Oscar fashion awards go to...

Brit Awards Ceremony was on Tuesday, 21 February2012, the red carpet was walked on by many celebrities dressed to impress onthis special occasion. I have thought of my own awards regarding the fashion onthe night.

The first and most important award goes to the best dressedceleb on the night, and the award goes to (drum roll) no surprise: GwynethPaltrow

HerePaltrow is wearing Tom Ford, and let's face is she never gets it wrong. Fromher simple yet sophisticated make-up and hair, her style is always slick andglamorous. The dress is so stunning that she didn’t need much jewellery. Her dressfits her perfectly showing of her slender figure and exaggerating her curves,to re-create this look might be a bit tricky because of the origami design. Youcan buy similar dresses from ASOS and Lipsy around prom season. But if you wanta dress the same as paltrow’s, your most likely going to have one made by adress maker.

Next up, the dreaded award for worse dressed . And the winner is, Melissa McCarthy.

Unfortunately this dress just doesn’t flatterMelissa’s figure. The high neck, too much fabric and the bat wings are toomuch. The colour suits her pale skin tone perfectly, she just needed to be abit more daring and flaunt her fuller figure, not cover it up.

The biggest cring/poser awards goes to (I'm sure you can all guess this) - Angelina Jolie

Angelina really does know how to flaunt herstuff. Yes, she did look gorgeous as ever, especially with Brad on her arm. Butthe leg, the famous leg that she purposely posed with during her speech was atad cringe worthy. She does know how to pose and she’s good at it! But becausethe amount of criticism she received in the press she may look back and regretit a little. Twitter had even got its own account, called “Angelina Jolie’sright leg”.

The sexiest male award goes to, Christian Bale.

I sure you ladies will agree. The full black suit, and that’sall he needs.

And finally, the last award for the hottest couple goes to (move over Brangelina) George Clooney and Stacy Keilbler.

George and Stacy looks absolutely gorgeous, they representthe Oscars. George looks so smart in his suit, with Stacy completing his lookin this stunning dress. The unusual design and the colour is a realeye-catcher.

A quick CATWALK update

CATWALK Loves to:
Update your wardrobe - try customising your old clothes by adding a zip or sequins here and there, not only will it refresh your wardrobe but it will make your clothes more unique and anti high street.

Firstly, find the area that could do with a bit of vajazzle. Popular areas include the sleeve, the waist line, the collar and even boring shoes.

To make your personalisation look extra fabulous start off by making sure your clothes fit you properly. For example, skinny jeans - if they're extra skinny these jeans can be difficult to put and take off. You can simply sew a horizontal zip at the bottom of the jean to make it easier for you to put on and take off.

Also have a go at taking in that top that is a bit too big for you now (yippee!), always make sure that clothes fit your right, that they suit your body shape and that you feel comfortable in.

Accessorise it up - Many stores across the country sell accessories to personalise your wardrobe, from market stalls to John Lewis, there's a shop in every town that you could visit.

You can buy sequins, zips, buttons, chains, diamantes, glitter, beads, the list is never ending! After a bit of practice you will feel more confident in customising your clothes, it is always beneficial if you’re a high street goer, there's nothing more embarrassing than walking down the street and seeing someone in the exact same outfit.

Don't be afraid to experiment and explore the different opportunities to customise, turn those jeans that have been stuck in your wardrobe for the past year into hot pants. Add different buttons to your coat, people won't recognise your clothes. These simple yet efficient tasks are affordable and extremely easy to do.

Vivienne Westwood’s controversial comment

London Fashion Week. Image taken from Reuters.

"People have never looked so ugly as they do today. We just consume far too much, I'm talking about all this disposable crap. What I'm saying is buy less - choose well. Don't just suck up stuff so everybody looks like clones”.

I spoke to the people of Chesterfield to see if they agree with Westwood’s comments:

  • Amanda, 44, said: “I buy whatever fashion that appeals to me, I buy from the high street so I’m bound to bump into somebody wearing the same top at me”.
  • Tom, 24 said: “I’m a guy, so I’m not that bothered. I think her comments a bit rude. I don’t have the time to ‘choose well’”.
  • Sophie, 26 said: “I do take time and spend my money well when I go shopping; I look for unusual items in vintage shops so I know that nobody else will be wearing the same as me”.
  • Laura, 18 said: “I do agree with her comment, everyone does look the same nowadays. You only have to walk down a street and you’ll see two people dressed practically identical. It’s because fashion changes so quickly that we have to buy fast and spend less to keep up, making it hard for us to search and save up for expensive and fashionable clothes”.
  • Sarah, 31 said: “Her comments aren’t going to give her a positive response, as she’s calling everyone ugly. Were in a recession, we have to buy the ‘disposable crap’ because nobody can afford to buy anything else”.

Would you rather....

Read a magazine online/from an app or would you prefer to buy a hard copy?

Hannah Yakobi, FAJO magazine's editor-in-chief said:

"My prediction is that magazines will continue to widely use the Internet and may eventually turn into a purely digital format."

Some might say that the internet is taking over, and that this will be the death of the glossy magazine. Can you picture never treating yourself to the lush pages of a hard copy fashion magazine? Let me know your thoughts.
